“World Car” and “Designed for all Markets” were phrases coined at the launch of a new brand within the Ford line-up, this was a car for Great Britain, a car for the people, this was the Mondeo. Launching in 1993 to replace the outgoing Sierra, the Mondeo was widely regarded as a huge departure for Ford with Formula One World Champion Sir Jackie Stewart promoting the innovative technology, safety design and driving experience. Talking of Formula One World Champions, did you know Ford recruited no other than Nigel Mansell himself to race the new Mondeo in the BTCC British Touring Car Championship? Ford’s Motorsport heritage allowed the Ford Performance team to branch out and develop a series of iconic performance Mondeo models, each inspiring the next generation with a wide selection of specifications, engines and trim levels to choose from.
Today the Mondeo sits alongside the Kuga, S-Max and Galaxy with saloon, hatchback and estate variants available at FOW.
