The Ford S-Max Journey
Launching in 2006 alongside the Galaxy, the Ford S-Max showcased an alternative design to the ‘traditional’ MPV with a sporty, edgier design. Initially available as a 5 or 7 seat, the S-Max showcased Ford’s innovative Fold-Flat seating system alongside a spacious, family-friendly design based on the underpinnings of the Mondeo. The second-generation S-Max was showcased at the 2014 Paris Motorshow, launching a year later in 2015 with a selection of technological upgrades alongside ultra-clean and efficient Euro 6 EcoBlue diesel and EcoBoost petrol engines.
What does the S-Max have to offer?
Choice. The Ford S-Max is widely regarded as one of the most user-friendly cars yet, sharing the same platform as the Galaxy (a model you should also consider). Sitting slightly lower with a more athletic, sporty stance, the S-Max is shorter than the Galaxy whilst maintaining a spacious feel with Ford’s fantastic Fold-Flat seating system. Sitting alongside the fantastic selection of petrol and diesel engines is a choice of manual or automatic gearboxes – each showcasing effortless performance and low running costs with a wider selection of trim levels over the Galaxy.
Talking of trim levels, the S-Max is available in Zetec, Titanium, ST-Line and Vignale specifications – each available with a fantastic selection of upgrades from new. We really like the Lux Pack, available on both Titanium and ST-Line models this adds adaptive LED headlights, premium leather trim (front seats are also electrically adjustable and heated) and an electric-powered tailgate. Other options include the Winter Pack (heated windscreen and heated steering wheel), panoramic glass roof and Driver Assistance Pack (park assist, premium 12 speaker Sony audio system, front and rear cameras, blind-spot detection and rear cross-traffic alert).
